- גַּבַּהַתf. (b. h. גבח) 1) high forehead; baldness in front. Ḥull.65b הַבָּא ואין לו ג׳ a species of locusts which occasionally appear, having no long-stretched heads (= ראשו ארוך ib.); (Ar.: a protuberance on the back, hump). Neg. X, 10 הג׳ a leprous affection on the front of the head (making it bald). Ib. איזו היא ג׳ מן הקדקדוכ׳ which portion of the head is called gabbaḥath? From the crown sliding down forward to where the hair begins on the forehead; Sifra Thazr. Par. 5. ch. X. Tosef.Neg.IV, 11; a. fr. 2) the front or outside of cloth; the nap of new cloth, opp. קרחת. Sifra l. c. ch. XV בְּגַבַּחְתּוֹ אלו חדשים bgabbaḥto (Lev. 13:55) means new cloths (v. Targ. O. a. l.).
